Group Mentoring

Miranda Toastmasters has introduced group mentoring for its members.

These sessions, which will held on the third Saturday of each month, will be an opportunity to socialise while learning more about Toastmasters, Pathways, making speeches, TableTopics and more.

Welcome to our new Committee 2024-2025

At our recent changeover meeting we welcomed the new Committee for the coming year:

  • President: Cathy Goodwin
  • VPE: Joseph Duffey
  • VPPR: Jill Brookfield (immediate Past President)
  • VPM: Mike Smith
  • Secretary: Teresa O'Byrne
  • Treasurer: Daniel Bazzano
  • Sargent at Arms: Kathy Tasker

Most of the new group are returning to roles and bring a wealth of committee experience. The exception is our new President, Cathy Goodwin, who is also new to the committee.

We're looking forward to another great Toastmasters year, with a fantastic and dedicated leadership team.

Parliamentarian Contest 2024

Miranda Toastmasters’ meeting on Tuesday 28 May, featuring the Club’s Parliamentarian Contest, was a night of fine entertainment and stimulating debate, as four club members competed to give the best Evaluation of the Chairman’s performance conducting the business section of the meeting. Chairman for the night was Club President Jill, who did a sterling job managing some complex discussions.
The four contestants were: Richard M., Paul S., John P. and Teresa O. (see photo below, left) And the winners were John, first place, and Teresa runner-up.
Miranda Toastmasters Club is probably unique in conducting a Parliamentarian Contest, which is named the ‘Barham. F Tooth Parliamentarian Contest’ in memory of Barry Tooth, a former member of the Club. Barry was a stickler for correct meeting procedures and through Barry’s knowledge of the Westminster meeting procedures, and his tuition, many members have become proficient with the assignment of Chairman.
Several guests attended the meeting including first-timer Marc who won the Table Topics award for the night (very impressive!).
