The Assignment Guide for Miranda Toastmasters describes all meeting assignments at Miranda Toastmasters and serves as a reference for members, especially new members. It outlines four major assignments and eight secondary assignments.

Sergeant-at-Arms
The Sergeant-at-Arms (SAA) ensures the smooth running of the meeting by handling equipment and setup.
Chairman
The Chairman ensures the meeting runs efficiently.
Welcome to guests
This role involves welcoming visitors and explaining the club’s purpose, agenda, and Toastmasters' benefits.
Loyal and Second Toast
The Loyal Toast is traditionally to Australia.
The Second Toast is on a selected topic of general agreement, presented concisely in under two minutes.
Education/Discussion
This 15-minute segment may be used for a general business session to practise parliamentary procedure, or provide an educational presentation on club operations or special events.
Invocation
This can be a short prayer or an inspirational thought.
It should last no longer than two minutes.
Introduction of guests
Members stand and briefly introduce guests sitting nearby.
The formal welcome is conducted separately as part of the Welcome to Guests role.
TableTopics Master
The Table Topics Master runs the Table Topics session.
Table Topics helps members practise impromptu speaking.
Toastmaster
The Toastmaster serves as the event's master of ceremonies.
The Toastmaster controls the prepared speeches and delivers meeting awards
.
Speaker
Speakers deliver a prepared Pathways speech at the meeting.
There are three or four speakers at each meeting.
Master Evaluator
Master Evaluator oversees evaluations of all meeting assignments. Master evaluator provides a general evaluation of the meeting manages the various evaluators.
Parliamentarian
The Parliamentarian evaluates the Chairman’s handling of the business session, ensuring proper parliamentary procedure.
Table Topics Evaluators
Table Topics Evaluator evaluate each Table Topic speaker. They select the best Table Topic of the meeting.
Speech Evaluator
Speech evaluators each evaluate a speaker with a prepared speech. They evaluate on content, structure and delivery.
Grammarian
Grammarian tracks correct and incorrect grammar use and introduces a “Word of the Day” for members to incorporate into speeches.
Table Topics
Table Topics is an impromptu speaking exercise in Toastmasters meetings designed to help members think and speak on their feet.
Timer
The timer times everything at club meetings and provides a report.
Voting
Members and visitors vote at each meeting for the best speaker, evaluator, assignment, and supporting assignment.
Point of View
Point of view is a short persuasive speech followed by structured audience responses alternating between "for" and "against" viewpoints.
Listening Critic
Listening Critic tests members' listening skills by posing questions about meeting content.
Um & Ah Counter
Um & Ah Counter tracks unnecessary filler words (e.g., “um,” “ah”, "so", etc) and provides feedback.
